Ardsley Teachers Wear Red
Wearing Red. That’s what members of the Ardsley Congress of Teachers did on Friday so show solidarity and support for our brothers and sisters on strike in Chicago. The Chicago Teachers Union (@CTULocal1) voted to strike on Wednesday Evening calling for smaller class sizes, more support staff and higher raises. These issues are being seen as major problems in school districts all across the country.
ACT President Alyson Tina sees the importance in supporting teacher unions throughout the country. “While many of the problems we see in school districts throughout the country are not present here in Ardsley, we understand the importance of supporting outside teacher unions in order to advocate for better education for all children in the United States.” Tina continues, “It is a collective effort and we all must play a role in advocating for children”.
As of the writing of this article negotiations in Chicago continue but both sides are still not close to deal to end the ongoing teacher strike.
